Vocabulary List 4


Melancholy: Depression, sad
Certain MALANCHOLY songs get me in a sad mood. 

Exemplary: Worthy of imitation
The EXEMPLARY word problem that my math teacher gave us helped me a lot.

Peculiar: Uncommon
Her shirt was very PECULIAR.

Dread: To fear greatly
I DREAD to dogs because they bark loud.

Bough: Branch of a tree
My dad cut a BOUGH because it was too big.

Pious: Devout; Sincerely believing
I have PIOUS in God.

Communion: A group of persons having a common religious faith.
In the catholic religion in order to get married you have to have the first COMMUNION done as well as the confirmation.

Auditor: A university student registered for a course without credit and without obligation to do work assigned to the class.
The AUDITOR student does extra work for his own benefit.

Multitude: A great number
In school there is a MULTITUDE of students attending.

Eloquence: The practice or art of using language with fluency and aptness.
many people get good jobs because of their ELOQUENCE.

Despair: Loss of hope
In my opinion I don’t  think one should ever have DESPAIR.

Hoary: Gray or white with age
