story telling technique "Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

This story at first didn't grab my attention, but as we read it in class it actually seems very interesting. it seems mysterious, as if a document was just found and we are trying to figure out where it came from. This technique is usually used in stories that like to give you a background and keep you in suspense or thinking so that you can keep reading the story.

"Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

The tone of the story was personal or intimate. This technique is used in other writings by just telling you the story one-on-one. They tell you how they how feel about that certain person or place just so that you can an idea of how things are so that later in the story you already have a background of that place and its people.

Remix on Emerson's essay

We are all different people with different personalities that shouldn't raleigh on anybody but ourselves. When we say each persons voice can be as strong as the great men in history, we mean that we all have different ways of thinking and that we should do what we believe is right. Every person realizes at some moment of his or her life that envy is ignorance. We are all built for the process of learning meaning that where you put your most focus on is where you will get the most benefit from.We know what we want to focus on and what we don't want to focus on. "The divine idea that each of us represents" means that each of us represents what we think is good. We also half represent ourselves because we are ashamed of the divine idea that each of us represents. In other words this means that we are too worried about what others think or say about us, that we don't live our lives the way we have always wanted to. We are also afraid to speak what we believe is right, but at some point we learn to face everything and everyone. The word transcendentalism means to go up and above a rebellion and education.

How we are always needing an oppinion about the others when in reality no one knows what we want, like or feel. No body will ever know. you better but yourself. "Self Reliance"

I am spending about 30 minutes reading this long summary a day. It is really long but I do understand what he is trying to say. I am trying really hard because I don't move on until I get what he is trying to say. It is really long so it took me a long time time it actually kind of got me tired of reading it. His ideas about us needing an opinion of other means that we are afraid to be ourselves or that we haven't accepted ourselves the way we are. That the person that wants to be with you forever has to truly like you for who you are. They shouldn't be expecting you to change something about yourself just because they don't like it. Also that no law can be sacred but that of your nature. Nothing makes your world a peaceful happy world but yourself. You are the only person in this world that knows what you want and what is best for you. You should always believe in yourself and not need anyone to expect you to change in order for them to like you.

A Dream Within A Dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
By: Edgar Allan Poe

From Thoreau's Walden 2

PARAGRAPH ONE
I was very ENDEMIC about life itself. I was ADROIT with the simple life in the woods. I wanted to FATHOM the purpose about my life. I EXTOL life itself am IMPERVIOUS with anyone and anything. I want to be POTENT of my life. I want to be live a simple life and SCRUTINIZE every detail of it. I expect to PROTRUDE in my journey through the woods. Nobody else is very METICULOUS about their life. Therefore I'm being CONCLUSIVE about what I want to discover in this journey.

PARAGRAPH TWO
We are all BEGUILE about our true life but but yet we manage to stay strong. As our OBNOXIOUS life went on we grew stronger and smarter. Even though our life is a MISCONSTRUE we try to be "bigger" people to feel better about ourselves. Our life is a true JEOPARDY but we still keep trying no matter what. This is why I am AVERSE about our life.

Mid term review/study strategy

For this mid term review I am going to make flashcards to study and in class we will be testing each other whenever we have the time to do it.

My Walk Alone

                                                                                                                                 09- 29-12
Half way though my walk, I don't feel too tired. As I started walking all of what I was thinking was "Ok so I'm just going to do my homework" . After I looked around me and saw some flowers" that reminded me of when I first moved here. Later through my walk I saw many rocks in a long triangular shape, first thing that came to my mind was a cemetery. After I was  just thinking that my life is not as bad as I always thought it seemed to be. There are people that are in worst situations  than I am , then yet they don't give up. Instead they try harder to get an education and to be someone in life. Cars passed by and one honked at me, I didn't care and don't care anymore. People can think or say anything they want and as long as I know it's not true it doesn't bother me anymore. The cars, wow what else are we going to invent day after day. We can't be dependent anymore so it seems with all this technology. Right now I'm guessing it's 7:15 I'm sitting on the bench where the SMAT bus passes by. I'm writing and it"s dark. I can't believe that I'm not afraid being alone and far away from home. As I left I saw some car passing by really slow, that did scare me. I thought there are so many bad people in this world, and just started praying to God and the Virgin Mary that nothing bad happened to me on the dark, somewhat lonely street. All of what I now know, is that I'm a happy girl now. I'm not sad or depressed anymore. My parents are now able to fix their problems, they were finally able to understand that their problems are affecting me and my health. I was finally able to cry it all out last night and talked to my dad and told him what and how I was feeling. My brothers somewhat started helping out wit the house as well as my sisters. My chest doesn't hurt as much and my heart is beating normal. I am going to do my best in school,  and worry about me and me only. Know what is best for me and what makes me and me only happy. Life is beautiful, you just have to learn on how to let go of the past! It's up to you to keep going or to be stuck. I now decide to keep going. the past, is nothing, but the past! I have to think about the future, the many great things that I can or am able to achieve. I may not own this world, but my world I own and make it wonderful and amazing!
